I trained as a film maker at the Academy of Fine Arts, Hamburg. I started my professional career in film, then moved into opera and theatre. After a decade or so in the Arts, my love for the Natural World and my desire to contribute to it’s protection and preservation made me change direction and retrain as an environmental microbiologist. Since 2012, I am working as a research scientist, studying the effect of anthropogenic pollution on microbial communities – and vice versa.
I am also still practicing art, nowadays mostly in the form of stills photography and collaborative performance art. On this site you can browse through some of my current projects.
